Overdue date might be caused by umbilical cord around baby neck ? ( I am 41 weeks pregnant now and nothing happends. I have an appointmen to be induced in 5 days from now.The midwife said the baby head is engaged 3/5 but when i have been in hospital the doctor said is not engaged.) I wonder if the baby might not go down because the umbilical cord might be wrapped around the neck and this to cause a late arrival ? Did anybody had a similar experience ? Dr said that I could deliver w/ out having a c section but i do have the choice to deliver normally. I am considering the c section. any suggestions or experiences. thanks

32 weeks pregneant, umbilical cord is around my babies neck. Is this dangerous? I am 32 weeks preneant, i took an ultrasound yesterday and it showed the umbilical cord around my babies neck, what are the chances or possibilites of him getting out of that situation before delivery date? The other day my mother and sister in law shrieked at me don't lift your arms up like that it will wrap the umbilical cord around you baby's neck! Was your baby born with the umbilical cord wrapped around any body part? baby 1 was born with his wrapped 2 xs around his neck like a necklace and was holding it in his left hand when he was born. (His was extra long they said they could have cut it in half and he still would have had too much cord.) baby number 2 was born with hers wrapped once. baby number 3 was wearing his like a sash. All three were fine and I did natural births with all 3. (By natural I mean I didnt have surgery. I had the epidural though.)

i finally had my baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? FOR ALL OF THOSE THAT DONT KNOW OR REMEMBER I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY DOCTOR WANTING TO INDUCE ME EVEN THOUGH I WAS 10 DAYS OVER DUE AND I WAS LOOSING FLUID AND EVERY NOW AND THEN MY BABYS HEART RATE WOULD DROP...... WELL LAST THURSDAY I WAS INDUCED AND MY BABY WENT INTO DISTRESS.. BUT THEY STILL DIDNT HAVE ME DELIVER..... COME FRIDAY THEY COME RUSHING INTO MY ROOM ALL NERVOUS AND I GET SENT FOR AN IMMEDIATE EMERGENCY C SECTION!!!!!!!!! MY BABY WAS HERE AT 4:13PM FRIDAY AND WAS 7POUNDS EVEN AND WAS 19 INCHES LONG!!! my dr is allowing for me to have my c section anytime after my 38th week after May 9th.? We had an ultrasound at 35 weeks and my baby has her umbilical cord around her neck but my dr said she should be fine and having a c section would be best. Not sure what date to choose after the 9th of may. I know at 38th week it is okay to deliver a newborn baby and she will be fine but not sure if I should wait another week or so to be on the safe side. any suggestions.

Cord around neck? How common is it for a baby to be born with the umbilical cord wrapped around its neck? I ask because i was talking to my parents and they told me that happened to me and i never knew about it. I don't think they said how many times it was wrapped around but it was in 1991, if that would make ANY difference in statistics. I think they thought it was a little bit different because the midwife didn't actually unloop it, he she wasn't even ready, the "trainee" midwife had to, it may have been quite tight.

The baby appeared to be perfectly healthy but the cord was wrapped around her neck four times! My sister said that the baby was constantly turning, even in the last day or two. She went to the Dr. Thursday and the heartbeat and everything was fine. She went into labor Friday and went to the hospital Friday night. When the nurses hooked her up to fetal monitors, they couldn't find a heartbeat. They did 4 sonograms and found no signs of life. They induced to speed up the labor on Saturday morning and she delivered about 12:30, but the baby was gone. Of course, we are all devastated. I am pregnant myself, and it has made me a little nervous. Any one know how common this problem is? Thank you for your help.

I lost my son at 5 months due to the umblilical cord what are the chances of it happening again? I'm pregnant again, and the umbilical cord had wrapped around the babies neck. I'm so scared of it happening again and thinking about so much that I'm thinking about terminating the pregnancy. A girl who didn't know me told my husband (boyfriend at the time) that she saw me at a party take 4 guys in a bedroom & do them all. He, for some stupid reason beleived her. Umbilical cord question...? I am almost 24 weeks and on Friday I had a routine ultrasound. The doctor showed us that the baby has already wrapped the cord around her neck twice. Obviously this is not uncommon but my question is 1.) Has anyone had this happen early in pregnancy and then had the baby unwrap themselves? 2.) Has anyone had a normal vaginal delivery with the cord wrapped around twice? The doctor said the cord is not very long so it's very possible that my only option is cesarean.

Any one have long umbilical cord problem..? When I had my 1st child the cord was wrapped around her neck 3x and I was told it was longer than norm., with my 2nd the cord was around his neck 6x & he needed ox., was told the cord was abnormally long. Now preg. w/ our 3rd (6 weeks) my OB is saying that I just grow long cords & this on may be longer. So I was given the options of inducing between 32 & 34 weeks or a 38 week c-section, however w/ c-section I was told I could still end up having a still born with moitoring. My OB asked us to give him a answer at my next appt. so we could start planning our course of action. So I am wondering if any one else has been told this (im sure I am not the only one) and what was done with them. I am so nervious & stressed about making the right decision for our baby. So any help would be much appreciated, Thanks Sorry I did not add that this is what my regular OB told me a week ago, then I was sent to a high risk pregnancy specialist & told the same.
