Cord Blood Stem Cells Information

Embryonic Stem Cells Knowledge Base

Dedifferentiation of adult cells into Embryonic stem cell? To be honest my professor is Korean researcher in US has created the differentiate an adult cell into Embryonic stem cell, using mouse. He did it but, it seems that another researcher stolen or did smth wrong, anyway what ever it was, finally the creator became not him but that person. So I think he wants us to find negative sides of this work (differentiation of adult cells into Ebryonic cell). So please give me more exact negative fact for that. Hope this additiona information wil help you.
What is the difference between embryonic stem cells and chord blood stem cells taken at birth? I know what chord blood cells from infants are and know that embryonic stem cells are a hot political issue.
What is the significants of embryonic stem cell research over adult stem cells research? I have been told that there is more potential in saving lives with adult (or other non-embryonic) stem cell research over embryonic stem cell research. I know about the whole genetic arguement (because getting ACS has the genetic code of the patient, the patient will accept it idea) so I know the advantages of ADC over ESC. What are the advantages of ESC over ASC?
what is exactally embryonic stem cells mean? what can embryonic stem cells do, and is it benificial to human beings.
Is There A Difference Between Embryonic Stem Cells and Those Found In Adults? I read something about how red blood cells or lymphocytes (i am drunk, so i can't quite remember) come from stem cells. If adult humans have stem cells, why can't we use those instead of embryonic stem cells for research (since Bush is a dick about the subject)?
Are embryonic stem cells the only way to cure? Hi everybody. A member of my family had an adult stem cell treatment for heart disease. Then he was told that the treatment with adult cells could have little or zero effect. Is this true that adult stem cells from bone marrow have no effect? Are the embryonic stem cells the only way for cure?
embryonic stem cells come from what kind of embryo? I know that embryonic stem cells are stem cells derived from the inner cell mass of an early stage embryo known as a blastocyst. as Wikipeida says it. But in what kind of embryo do they obtain the stem cells from? Are they the embryos fertilized in lab or donated by people?
Why has bush cut research funds for cancer and hindered embryonic stem cells research? Is he a monster? 1500 dying of cancer daily, yer Bush has cut research funds for 7 years! Researchers are hurting for funds. Dr Cui at Wake Forest has a possible cure for cancer, yet his funds are cut. Embryonic stem cell research is cut by religious fanatics that knoe nothing of science!
How do you refer to embryonic stem cells and reprogrammed skin cells to meiosis and mitosis? The question pretty much says it all. What im trying to ask is: how do i identify the interrelationships of Meiosis and mitosis and the systemic level (ZYGOTE) with respect to stem cells and reprogrammed skin cells? its one of my questions on my assignment and its really confusing me, any help would be much appreciated! :)
What is the relationship between embryonic stem cells and DNA breaks? Can DNA breaks be engineered? Can toxic studies on embryonic stem cells be used to genetically repair and/or create DNA breaks in sperm. eggs, at conception or during fetal development? Why or why not?
Why do we need embryonic stem cell research if we can obtain the same info from adult cells? Why is the research being directed to only embryonic stemcells and not from the placenta or the umbilical cord? If the same results from research can be conducted, why use embryos?
Proven Alternative Sources of Embryonic Stem Cells? Are there any alternative sources of embryonic stem cells other than that of an embryo from IVF, that is proven to and has performed the exact functions of ESC? If there are other sources, and are close to ESC but not exactly the same [maybe one more disadvantage possibility], please list it. evidence and websites appreciated.
Why are scientists still researching about embryonic stem cells? Correct me if I'm wrong... but there has been no successful human therapy done by embryonic stem cells... though they are pluri-potent, they are still difficult to control [more than adult stem cells]. and though an embryo does not need to be killed, why continue it when you have adult stem cells that are found to be pluri-potent now? then all those ethical issues would ease if scientists devoted their time on adult stem cell research! The only cons [medically] of stem cell research is only that they may become genetically unsuitable for patients, become defective during experimentation, hard to control [NOT as much as embryonic], and are hard to harvest and gather BTW, ARE THERE ANY PROBLEMS WITH HARVESTING? [SUCH AS DEFECTS FROM LONG-TERM] and has low success rates [well, at least it has a success rate...] not sure about the last one...any corrections? hope i've done my research nicely enough. oh yess... 51 characters left.
why, of all cell types, do embryonic stem (ES) cells have the greatest potential for use in the treatment of d a.They are the most highly differentiated of all cell types. b.they are impervious to carcinogens. c.It is adult stem cells, not embryonic stem cells, that have the greatest potential for the treatment of disease d.They are larger and thus easier to work with than other cells. e.They are undifferentiated cells that have the potential to differentiate into all of the different specialized cells of the body. of disease? ** lol thats what I thought (.e) but I got it wrong
Arguments For and Against Embryonic Stem Cells? I need the pros and cons of embryonic stem cell research and use. anything would be useful and i would appreciate it. Thanks
What is this quote trying to say, "Embryonic stem cells hold the potential of curing a variety of diseases... ...since they can become any kind of tissue and can replicate themselves in the laboratory."
What do you think: Embryonic Stem Cells? I'm doing a science project on embryonic stem cells, and I just wanted to know what everyone thinks about it. It would be helpful if you included your gender and age range, but it is not required. Thanks!!! Age Ranges: 18 & UNDER 19-28 29-38 39-48 49+
Embryonic Stem Cells vs. Umbilical Cord Stem Cells. Are you for or against one, the other, or both? For the record: I'm for Umbilical Cord Stem Cells but against Embryonic Stem Cells. This question will go into voting.
what are embryonic stem cells used for? like what kinds of diseases/problems do they cure? i need to write a report for my english class, and i am stuck on the intro. all i need is a sentence saying what embryonic stem cells are good for
. All connective tissue cells are derived from the embryonic stem cell called:? . All connective tissue cells are derived from the embryonic stem cell called: a.middlederm b.ectoderm c.endoderm d.mesenchyme e.osteoblasts
What is the difference from Embryonic Stem Cells and Cord Blood Stem Cells? My husband and I currently have 4 children. At each of their births, we chose to have their cord blood collected and their stem cells stored at the Cord Blood Registry facility in Tucson, Arizona. When our first child was born in 1999, many people still did not know about cord blood and stem cells. Our youngest is 12 months old and it seems that more people are aware and interested in stem cell storage/usage. I have wondered a lot about the difference in ESC and the cord blood stem cells collected at birth. There are literally thousands of baby's born daily, why aren't mother's advised and/or given the option to donate their baby's cord blood? It may depend on morals or beliefs of the mother. Even if ESC's are better, shouldn't we still be concerned about saving the stem cells that are in cord blood? Is it a funding issue? I just couldn't waste my kids' cord blood, but #3 did have a small collection of only 29cc's (<1oz.).
Embryonic stem cells vsembryonic germ cells? What's the difference between embryonic stem cells and embryonic germ cells? I'd appreciate any good sources as well. Thanks!
How can you analyze this quote, "Embryonic stem cells hold the potential of curing a variety of diseases.... ...since they can become any kind of tissue and can replicate themselves in the laboratory."
When were the first embryonic stem cells derived? embryonic not adult. just need a general year. like in the recent medical/scientific past and used for research and such. BY HUMAN SCIENTISTS...
At what POINT do embryonic stem cells differentiate? Title. =[ I can't find the answer to this question. EDIT TO ADD: Naturally, when they first differentiate in the womb... at what POINT?
Why do Christians think embryonic stem cells are considered life? I don't see anything in the bible that states this. If it takes sperm and egg to make an embryo, wouldn't letting sperm and egg go to waste be considered murder? Also why is it that a dot with no cognitive functions not be allowed to save a living breathing human being who is ill? Wouldn't not saving a human be considered murder? Most embryonic stem cells today that are not used are thrown away. Should the person who threw them away be condemned for murder? BTW I am a Christian.
Should embryonic stem cells be used unrestricted? I say yes! Embryonic cells should be used TOTALLY to human research!!!! Embryos are not humans. Kill them if needed to save REAL living humans! We should not create them for just that, but once they are to discarded, then use them for science
Embryonic Stem Cells - What is your opinion? When a cell nucleus is transferred to another cell, have we created life? Does a stem cell have the same status as a human? What should be done with the embryos that are left over at IVF clinics?
♠ How are embryonic stem cells grown in the laboratory?!?!?!?!? in your own words, dont give me the stuff from other website, i want a different explanation thats easier to understand
What would you do if your child was dying & the only way to cure/save them was by using embryonic stem cells? Would you be against it then....even if it goes against your beliefs? Don't spaz,I'm not trying to offend anyone...I'm just curious.
Adult Stem Cell and Embryonic Stem Cells.? Okay, can somebody tell me if I am correct? Adult stem cells are cells found in any human being. They can be found in various tissues. When cloning these cells, you can only replicated it to be the same cell. So, if it was a skin cell, it could only turn into another skin cell. Sometimes a body doesn't accept these cloned cells, though. Alright, and then the embryonic cells. they are an embryo that is taken from a mother's womb. They can be used with any sort of tissue, and will be a custom fit with any body. Am I right? If not, somebody please explain the difference. Also, why would somebody use an adult cell over the embryonic cell, and vice versa? How do the embryonic cells fight diseases? your answers are greatly appreciated.
For how long have we been researching embryonic stem cells? Other wise known as stem cell research. And can you provide evidence or a link? its the last part of my essay but I can't find a final answer, only very rough estimates.
What is your opinion on embryonic stem cell research? I believe that this research's potential for cures for outweighs the negative. Everyone says, "oh we shouldn't kill embryos and other methods work fine." First of all, many embryos are discarded today that could be used to find cures for various dieseases. Also, embryonic stem cells are the most malleable form of stem cells, so they are the easiest kind to work with and have more potential. I think the government should fund stem cell research. What do you think? The negatives are the ethics of it. Some people believe that using embryos for this purpose is wrong.
Embryonic Stem Cells vs. Umbilical Cord Stem Cells. Are you for or against one, the other, or both? Please state your reasons and morals. This question is about tech today and is not about making full human clones. LOL This question will be voted upon. For the record: I'm pro Umbilical Cord Stem Cells but againt Embryonic Stem Cells
Embryonic Stem cells vs. Adult Stem cells? Alright, so what advantage do embryonic stem cells have over adult stem cells? Researchers say that embryonic stem cells have so much potential? There must be a reason that we are still researching embryonic stem cells if adult stem cells are already fixing things. Input? And I'd also appreciate it if you took a look at my other question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aok3t_V_hUZXRzFyYG7XNkjsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080330124721AAG8GYS Thanks in advance!
How much would it take to fund Embryonic Stem Cell research? I know billions have been put into research for Embryonic Stem Cells but if research was made publicly fundably, on an estimation how much money would it take to get somewhere? How do the 'billions' compare to the amount of money needed?
Embryonic Stem Cells? What are some scientific websites that oppose embryonic stem cells?
Against Embryonic Stem Cells? What are a bunch of arguments Against embryonic stem cells??? =)
What reasons should embryonic stem cells research be unacceptable by society? I am working on a research paper concerning embryonic stem cells. I need more supportive evidence that is against any type of research involving the destruction of human life. Or any reason why any research taken towards embryonic stem cells is unnecessary. I have some exceptional Internet resources; also I found a great book, "The human embryonic stem cell debate". edited by Suzanne Holland, Karen Lebacqz, and Laurie Zoloth. How do I find other good resources that are out there, can anyone help me find any? Also what are your views on this topic?
embryonic stem cells! HELP PLEASE!? hey. how do embryonic stem cells get their nutrition? if you do not know the answer to this can you please tell me how they either perform regulation (control and coordination of their activities) or transport. HELP IS APPRECIATED THANKS
Sickle Cell cured... but without embryonic stem cells. Is following God maybe right? So we go down this path thinking we have to kill evolving babies to save lives and right here under our noses, we find by forcing avoidance of such thing, we might have came up with a major cure. This is just in... Scientist cured Sickle Cell Anemia in mice. In fact they don't know how they could have done it with embryonic stem cells. They did it with "embryo-like" stem cells from mice tails. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071206/ap_on_sc/stem_cells_sickle_cell Maybe by following God's wishes we make things better for all instead of preventing good things. Bryan the bible uses the word "murder" as abortion is a nice word thought up by those that wants to fool you into believing it is a medical term instead of what it really is. Just cells and parasites at that, right Bryan? And a fetus is such a great big complicated word, it certainly doesn't mean baby, right? I've been in the medical field too long Bryan, and no longer impressed with medical terms. It wasn't Roe v. Wade that made abortion possible or popular, but a doctor. One that has done more abortions than any other living doctor. See what you think about his medical terms, Bryan. This is the Father of legalized abortion in the USA: http://www.aboutabortions.com/Confess.html And how he and Betty Friedan got it started with NARAL: http://www.pregnantpause.org/abort/remember-naral.htm And how many years have you been in the research world, Corrosion? LOL! I was probably working on monoclonal antibodies before you were born.
In favor of Embryonic Stem Cells? What are a bunch of good arguments In Favor of embryonic stem cells? =)
why is human embryonic stem cells used for treating rats in labs?? is it possible to use embryonic stem cells from HUMAN for treatment of rats? why not use rat embryonic stem cells?? is it a typo by the writer or I simply just not understand much bout it see the article at : http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2005/05/050510193918.htm I thought they have different dna sets and stuffs ? that s not my question. I am confused, w/ the ability of human cells works in rats. Should rats be cured using stem cells from ratts only? WILLL IT MATCH (the DNA and stuff)?
Embryonic stem cells? I need 3 points for and against embryonic stem cells being used for scientific research. THis is for a discussion, so can anyone help me out? TIA

embryonic stem cells? anyone know any stats on the benefits of embryonic stem cell research? thanks =] ther not stable bc there not developed, which is why their beneficial since you can direct them to mature into almost any tissue/cell type in the body. im looking for stats not incorrect information
Embryonic Stem Cells. Research without complete destruction? Can it be done? Can they harvest stem cells from embryos without completely killing the embryo? If the cells can multiply infinitly, why take them all? I don't believe in killing a developing child for use of its stem cells. Regardless of the fact that they are used for medical purposes and they would be disgarded anyway, I think it is still wrong. They have the highest rate of success, vs. adult stem cells. Those can be found in the ear and in some other places. There aren't many successful alternatives to ESC harvesting. I know I might feel differently if MY child had a condition that could be cured with ESC. I would want the best treatment possible. It's good that they have found stem cells in cord blood, but harvesting/preserving it takes thousands of dollars. We were talking about this today in class and I'm trying to find out more. If you don't think it counts as murder, please explain why. Thanks in advance to all serious answers Kelsey
embryonic stem cells? Where do scientist get the fertilized eggs from? In this website, http://stemcells.nih.gov/info/basics/basics3.asp it says stem cells are not derived from eggs fertilized in a woman's body
What do embryonic stem cells do that ....? Adult stem cells don't do?
Do you think if we stopped using the term "embryonic" stem cells, that the Democrats would better understand our opposition to the federal funding of stem cells obtained from ABORTED BABIES? Stem cells can be obtained from many other sources: umbilical fluid, amniotic fluid, the remains of a pulled tooth, etc. The President and Republicans would not oppose these other sources! Ben T - speak for yourself about the age of your science knowledge. Republicans have been stating this since my kids have been in middle school, so that would be 5 years ago. The liberal media is just catching up - hence, you libs are just finding out about it. Too bad for you. da big Q - Does your response help you to feel less guilty about throwing away a human life after you CHOSE to murder it and throw it away.
Embryonic stem cells? why does a embryo die when retrieving the stem cell?
Pro choice people: If ONE child in all the aborted babies or embryonic stem cells were to become a doctor that would cure all forms of cancer, but you don't know which one, would you stop abortion/stem cell research? ***Lets see how fast MY question gets deleted because I favor pro-life. Twat?- Wow you just didn't answer my qustion. I didn't expect that! <=Sarcasm It must be great to answer a question with a question while never addressing my question! You get a cookie! yellowdog- Another person that won't answer my question. Who would have guessed? Haggesitze- Another person avoiding the question. Thats 0 for 3! Way to go people! Good work! Midnight&Moonlight- You win the grand prize after 3 attempts someone finally answered the question. Glad to see you would still abort babies even if it ment saving even more lives through a cancer cure! Anti-shriz- What? Yeah that makes sence! Ash- 1 for 6, thanks for not answering buddy! Rogerramjet- Tighten you foil hat buddy the cosmic rays are getting to you. Westhill- Clicketty clack wippity wop. Boo beep boo boop. Another person avoding a direct answer, thanks. And yes i do know that it is embroys that are destroyed to harvest stem cells but that dosen't exactly fit in the the question line does it? Jenny- Thank you for you wish that this question wont get deleted but thats up to the power that be. But you just another person avoding the question. Im just not having any luck I guess some questions of principle are way to difficult for some people. Thank you to those who actually answered my question, all one of you!
What is embryonic stem cells? Is the cell extracted from an embryo, or is the embryo used in the research?
