If cord blood is so wonderful and can save lives why is it so expensive?

I would love to save my baby's cordblood but I don't have $2,000 and I think that it sucks that only rich people get to have the best treatment. What do they do that makes it so expensive?

1. Because the have to store it forever!I'm shocked it doesnt cost more. They offer payment plans...get a part time job and you'll have the money in like 4 months or less!
2. Request to donate your childs cord blood. It's free to donate it and in case your child ever needs cord blood......it is possible that his/her cord blood will still be there.
3. People have gone on to live long healthy lives without their cord blood. Don't worry about it.
4. It is amazing what they can do with cord blood. It has stem cells that they can develop to help people with various diseases. You can donate cord blood so that you help someone else and it doesn't cost.
