Cord Blood Stem Cells Information

Is it possible to make an identical twin of my baby from her umbilical cord blood stem cells?

I would never want to do this, but I'm wondering if it is possible.

  1. theoretically yes
  2. Isnt that how they clone?
  3. Well, not an identical twin, but an identical clone, yes. The umbilical cord contains stem cells, which are what are most commonly used for the cloning process.
  4. which is why people will keep their babies stem cells in the future...so that they can be used to create a new kidney or a new heart... pick ur part no more rejections for transplants...
  5. technically, yes. You would need lots of money though. Specifically more money than all the scientists in North Korea :P
  6. The next baby would be a clone.
  7. Scientist do not have the ability to clone people, nor can they generate fully functional organs from stem cells. This may be a possiblity in the future but it's unlikely to happen in our lifetime.
