Does any 1 actually do cord blood banking?

They send me these things all the time on cord blood banking, and it's like $20,000 to do it! I could buy a car or even a house for that! Is it really worth it? And does anyone actually do it? Have you or have you heard of anyone who has? If yes, why? To KevtheKat: I said cord-blood banking, not spem banking you dumb-ass!

5. I have a 33 month old and an almost 6 month old. I didn't bank cord blood either time because it's very expensive and most people don't end up using it. 6. DO IT DO IT DO IT!!!!!!! I did it and it was $1800 ( not even close to $20,000!!!!!) through ViaCord. I am very happy that I did it. the list of diseases they can CURE gets longer and longer all the time, and with technology it will only get longer. You pay for home-owners insurance, you pay for car insurance, why not pay for insurance for your child's health? Imagine if your baby actually had something that cord blood could cure, and you never did it. I think that it is completely worth it. They do payment plans, too. I thnk we did $250 a month for a while, but they offered lesser priced plans than that. My doctor is very practical, and not into suggesting all sorts of crap, but even he said it was a good idea. 7. You have a better chance of hitting the lottery than actually needing (or your kid needing) cord blood. Yes, there are a sprinkle of testimonies, but there is also a sprinkle of testimonies from lottery winners. If you have 40,000 bucks to spare, why not? Me personally, I'm saving that cash so I can send my kid to college. Not banking her umbilical cord blood on a dire "what if" she gets ill. Next, they'll be banking placentas at 60,000 bucks a pop just in case your kid wants a very personal cosmetic made just for them. Humans are very weird. I won't put anything past them.
8. It is around $2,000 not $20,000 and depending on the illnesses that run in your family it can be very worth it. Most places let you make payments on the amount too if you are interested.

I didn't bank mine I donated it. you have to fill out all kinds of forms about medical history and they either use it for research or to help some one who needs it. i felt that since i couln't afford to bank it for myself i should at least use it to help someone else. if this is something you would like to do just ask your doctor and they will tell you how to go about it.
