How long until a kittens umbilical cord will fall off?
My cat had her kitten and did everything she was supposed to including eating the placenta and some of the umbilical cord. There is still a good inch and a half left on the kitten. Will this just fall off after a week or so as it does on human babies?

- yes, your momma cat has done a good job, she will continue to clean the cord and it will fall off on its own in about 5-7 days Congratulations
- they end up drying up and falling off. and yes, it takes about a week. Shortly after their eyes will open.. then their ears.. then they'll start figuring out they have legs.. then they'll start to realize they can smack their siblings with those legs.. THEN they'll figure out they can walk, but before they get that down they learn running, which is way too funny :) mom will do pretty much everything. Just keep the litter box clean, provide lots of good quality food - I prefer wet, as it seems to be easier for them to eat when they get there about five weeks of age (some start and four, some not till six) and I've seen kits choke on dry. Change the bedding out every couple of days. if there are any trust issues, leave some of the older bedding so the scent is the same or she might be tempted to move the kittens. No big deal, but finding them is always fun :D Since she is your cat, I'm assuming there are no trust issues..
