How long for the umbilical cord?
My daughter is 1 month old and her umbilical cord still hasn't fallen off yet. Is it normal for it to take this long? Should I be worried?

- No.. it took my son like 5 or 6 weeks for his to fall off. It will fall off when its ready too. If you're really concerned about it consult your dr. Congrats and Good Luck A brand new recommendation in 2006 is that you no longer need to put alcohol on the umbilical cord. A research study found that it really isn’t necessary. askdrsears.com
- usually 2 weeks, Are you pulling it up gently and cleaning deeply with alcohol? I would use a q-tip and get in all around it with the alcohol, and it came off at about 12 days. I wouldnt worry, but call the docs office and ask a nurse. They are there for any questions you have.
- My daughters fell of at two weeks they usually fall off on or around two weeks at least with all baby's that i know
- My son was almost 4 weeks when his fell off. I have a 2 week old now and his is still hanging on.You really have to clean it well with a cue tip and acohol.
- I am not sure whether it is normal or not. Our daughter fell off at 2 weeks our sons about 1. If your doctor isn't concerned and it isn't hurting her I wouldn't be worried about it. The first answerer is correct you no longer need to apply alcohol. We did with our daughter it was recommended at the time and not with our son.
