What to do with the Umbilical Cord when it falls out?

This morning I found the Umbilical Cord Stump attached to the cotton gauss next to my baby. Now I am wondering if there is anything I can do with it? Keep it in the Fridge Maybe??

  1. Don't refrigerate it--cook and eat while it's fresh.
  2. I wrapped my sons in clear tape and put it in his memory box.
  3. Why would you want to? Are you going to keep your babys first soiled nappy and all the baby teeth too?
  4. I put my daughters in ziploc baggies with the date it fell off and put them in thier memory boxes.
  5. I have to agree that you need to just toss it. I mean really, why would you even consider keeping such a thing?
  6. I tend to agree. There will be plenty of wonderful things to save from your baby: handprints, a lock of hair, hospital bracelet, not to mention 4793 priceless works of art. Toss it.
  7. Some people have this as a keep sake. You can also bury it.
  8. Keep it in the same place you keep it's dirty diapers, finger/toe nail clippings, vomit rags, etc. Seriously, why would you want to keep it?
  9. send it to tom cruise only messing just put it air tight bag it will last
  10. I would have to say throw it away. This is basically just a chunk of skin tissue. It has served it's purpose, let it go!
  11. Most people throw it away. Some people keep it, I'm not really sure why but to each his own. I try to picture what I would think if my mom had kept my umbilical cord all these years and then someday gave it to me as a surprise. I think I would think it was pretty weird. There will be plenty of things that you can save. But if you want to keep it, don't keep it in the fridge! Put it in a ziploc baggie and keep it with her baby books or photo albums or somewhere like that.
  12. MOST PPL I KNOW SAFE IT WIT THE DATE DAT IT FELT OFF N ATTACH IT 2 THE BABIES FIRST PHOTO ALBUM .. I THINK U SHOULD SAFE ITS JUST SOMETHING MOET PARENTS DO .. ITS UP 2 U THO
  13. Yuck! Throw it away. It suppose to fall off silly
  14. Ewww, throw it out. You can save other, nicer stuff, like locks of hair.
  15. i kept my son's and wrapped it up in a plastic baggie and then sealed it with tape. it is now in his memory book!
  16. That's all up to you. You could tape it in the baby book. Or you could put it in the trash that's what I did and plan to do with my new baby's. I think there are sooo many other things to keep that are far less gross looking. You could also think if that is something your baby would want to be able to see when it's older or if it's something it wouldn't care about.
