Cord Blood Stem Cells Information

when will my babies umbilical cord fall off?

My daughter is 2 months old now and still has her umbilical cord stump. When i took her to the doctor's they didn't seem too concerned about it but it wasn't for her well baby check so i'm not sure if they are just waiting til then or not. I read on the internet that it could be her white blood cell count is low. Has anyone else had this problem?

  1. when the cat eats it
  2. ive never had that problem, but my doctor has told me (as well as reading it in baby books) that is should fall off between 10-15 days. im surprised when you went in they didnt say anything. if your a first time mom please know to speak up. with my first i never spoke about really any concerns of mine, i always thought well if there is something wrong the doctor would know. well i was wrong i have gone through many experiences with my son and learned doctors are not always right. demand to see them monday.
  3. Her cord should have fallen off within the first two weeks. Do you have a health visitor or midwife you could ask about it? If not take her back to your GP and very assertively ask them why exactly it hasn't fallen off yet and could it be due to any under lying health problems. I wouldn't take all you read on the internet as gospel truth to be honest and I spent a lot of time frightening the hell out of myself when my daughter was born looking things up! That said you can mention what you read to your GP. Good Luck I hope you're daughter is fine.
  4. two months really, both my sons fell off in two weeks. it is only suposed to take two weeks or so i thought but if the doctors are not really concerned well might not of been two weeks thinking about it might of been longer but not much. If mit was cause of the white blood counts low the doctors shouldof picked that up
  5. It typically only takes a few weeks for it to fall off. But if the doctors aren't worried, you shouldn't be. Relax and enjoy your new baby. :)
  6. Usually within two weeks it should fall out. Clean it with a cotton ball and alcohol. I have 4 children I know dip cotton ball in alcohol and squeeze it on top of umbilical cord and clean the sides as long as it dosen't have an odor or look infected you baby will be all right. Good Luck
  7. wait a few more weeks?
