How many retarded people out there think you have to kill babies to get stem cells?

I had my daughters stem cells saved when I gave birth. It was the smartest thing I've ever done in my life. She turned out to have heart defects, and needed surgery 5 days after she was born. She will have problems later in life. So now that we have saved her stem cells it can be used to repair her heart. Stem Cells save lives. Someone says it may not happen in my life time. Well, I have faith in them. That's why I donated half to research.

4. I support stemcell research. However you must make informed decisions. The technology is not mature and may not be in your lifetime. It is unlikley your daughter will be healed in your lifetime. If even in hers.

6. Its more of misinformation. Unfortunately people assume that we can only get stem cells from aborted fetuses; the blatently ignore the fact that you can remove embryonic stem cells with out hurting the fetus. Its stupidity.
7. Removing EMBRYONIC STEM CELLS can seriously screw up the fetus's development and/or kill it. There is a difference between stem cells you harvest from a baby's tissues (eg umbilical cord) after it's born and harvesting stem cells from an embryo. The embronic stem cells are able to transform into any cell in the body but the baby's stem cells can only transform into the cells that make up the tissue it was taken from. The former stem cells are called pluripotent (pluri = many) and the latter are called totipotent (toti = total. All cells).
