Cord Blood Stem Cells Information

What do you think about parents who have another child to save the first one, with the stem cells of the new?

child? I don't know to much about stem cell research, but couldn't they get stem cells from the parents? And if not, how would you like to know that the only reason you were conceived was so that your sibling could be saved, not necessarily because they wanted you.

  1. It is reprehensible and even worse, a doctor encouraged it. Totally disgusting.
  2. i don't have kids but i imagine parents would do anything to save a child.
  3. huh is that how they do it? i seen a commercial about it and i didnt really understand it. im not saying im for stem cell research, but liek what if the parents wanted another child anyways, and then when they grew up, maybe that child would be honored that he or she saved his or her big brother or sister. and his or her big brother or sister might be soo happy that their little brother or sister saved their life. i wouldnt mind if my purpose of being born was to save my brother or sisters life i love them very much. so the way you said it it sounds bad, but if you think of it this way, then i think it might be ok. i dont really get the whole stem cell thing though.
  4. I'd rather not know. If I was the kid, I'd always wonder if I was truly wanted or just an extra to save the preferred child. I know people do it, but I just couldn't do that to a kid. If I did, I'd sure keep it between myself, my husband, and the doctors. No kid needs to know that kind of thing!
  5. Its not like the parents are breeding a child to use their heart or liver or something. The child will live, and be loved by those parents. I would have another child in a heart beat if I thought it would save my daughter and there was no other way to do it. I would love my new child as much as my old one because a child is a child, the reason behind conception is immaterial. Science enables medical advances, but it doesn't change a mother's love for her children - all of them.
  6. Here is my OPINION: If the parents were planning on having another child anyways, I really do not see the harm. I would think that it would be a priviledge- a honor! If I had been concieved to save a sibling- I would feel honored! As long as I was still loved!!! As long as they love each child equally- than I see nothing wrong with it!!
