  1. I wish I knew...
  2. The belief is that tissue from aborted fetuses can turn into and cell in the body. Such as brain cells, skin cells anything that need repairing. No one know if it really works though, it's still in testing. Although many people think it's immoral to use aborted fetuses, it could cure most types of cancer and many other diseases
  3. Basically stem cells are cells that don't have a "job" yet. All of our cells start from stem cells and become "specialized" i.e. skin cells, blood cells, ect. once the cell is given a specialty it can't go back. embryonic stem cell come from a fertilized egg that is made in a lab only for gaining those special cells because they can become other kinds of cells for people that need them to treat diseases like cancer.
  4. Embryonic stem cells are stem cells that come from the embryos of animals. The major difference between embryonic stem cells and adult stem cells is that adult stem cells can only differentiate into one type or at most a few types of cells (called "unipotent" or "multipotent" stem cells). However, embryonic stem cells can differentiate into almost all the different tissues in the body (called "pluripotent" or "totipotent" stem cells). The reason embryonic stem cells might be beneficial is precisely because of their totipotency. Because they can differentiate into many different tissues, theoretically if you give them the right conditions they could replace any damaged tissue in your body, including those that don't have adult stem cells to begin with, such as neurons in the CNS. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stem_cell
