Stem cells?

Would you consider a sixteen celled organism a human being or not

Public Comments

  1. not
  2. I wouldn't in this case. While I do believe abortion at any stage (under most circumstances) is wrong, stem cells can potentially help a human being so I think the ends justify the means.
  3. If the 16-celled organism was created by the joining of a sperm and an egg then yes, it is a human being. It is a human being in a very early stage of development, but it is still a human being.
  4. I go by this simple rule: Life runs around 'eating' and 'avoiding being eaten'. Billions of years of evolution has amplified the need for 'eating' and the 'fear' of being eaten through rewards: pleasure and pain. The central nervous system is the only unit that feels 'pleasure' and 'pain'. Pain is difficult to bear. Therefore causing 'pain' to any living thing is bad. I'm a vegetarian for this reason. 16 cells is no brain -- therefore its okay to destroy it.
