Stem Cells ...?

For a presentation, I'd like to know: What are Stem Cells used for? What are the For & Against Arguments for the use of them? And opinions to back up the pros and cons? Thank you! :D

1. They are used for the creation of different cell types and can then become organs or other tissue. Therefore, with a stem cell we can make a heart, we can make a liver and more. The pros are immense, we can treat people without having them reject a donor liver or heart. The cons are that we have to kill embryos to make them (up until recently) and those are considered future life. There are also other ethical dilemmas. However, scientists found a way to extract stem cells from skin cells (it's not very efficient...but could become much more efficient later) and this takes away the major con. The Church says it accepts this form of treatment much more so than one that kills embryos.
2. Stem cells can be used for hundreds of diseases and conditions. Too many for me to list here. But I can give you my opinion. I am 100% in support of stem cells. It is an absolutely amazing medical breakthrough that can ease the suffering of so many people and improve their quality of life. I always ask people who are against stem cells if your child was paralyzed or sick from a debilitating disease, wouldn't you do all that you could to help? I mean if your child needed a heart transplant that is ok, but if they needed stem cells for a chance to walk again that is not ok? Where do you draw the line with what is acceptable by "god" or whatever your silly reasons are for opposition. I think its morally wrong to let others suffer when you can ease their suffering and give them a new chance at life. But I will warn you, many stem cell adversaries tell outright LIES that have not been researched or proven in anyway, and I'm not just saying that because I am pro-stem cells. My family has done tons of research and found out the facts, and one fact is that alot of bible thumpers spread lies to trick people into siding with them. So just be aware that you can't believe all that you read. But if you do the research, you will learn the facts as well. Good luck! This is such an important subject to talk about and learn about.
