Cord Blood Banking?
We can't afford to bank the babies cord blood, but I know how beeficial it is. Is there some way I can donate it so even though we can't store it some other child could benefit?

- There are some public core blood banks you can donate to. Check with your doctor and hospital to see if they participate.
- from what I understand about the cord blood the baby needs it's own to help it, I think it has to do with DNA and blood types and so on. But I dont think it can be used by other babies'
- yup, they will ask you during your admittance at the hospital if you'd like to donate it. **jr---it is just like bone marrow, so long as it matches the other baby, it is then safe to use.
- Yes, there is a way to donate cord blood. http://www.cordus.com/whydonate.htm This is one site of many. For one baby's cord blood to be able to save another person is similar to bone marrow donations. It's a long shot but always possible.
