Cord Blood Banking for Free?

Dh and I have started to research cord blood banking and we found this program where they will let you privately bank for free. I haven't heard too much about this before. Has anyone else heard about it? Here's the link to the program: http://cordblood.com/newborn/?id=000667

1. I have heard of this, but never for free. I got the packet in the mail for this and it had prices on it. Are you maybe confused?
2. i've looked into cord blood banking and i've looked into this specific company, however, i never saw and didn't see on this web link, where they offer it for free..... so, i'm a little confused. bottom line.... it is very expensive to bank cord blood and i asked my OB about it and he told us that if you can spare the money and it's not a huge loss to your bank account, then go for it. OR if you or your partner have a history of medical disorders that the banking would benefit, then invest in it. for my husband and me...well, it would be a pretty sizeable hit to our finances and we come from pretty healthy backgrounds, so we aren't doing it. that's my viewpoint, but everyone needs to find their own path. take care.

The new program is designed to bank umbilical cord blood for newborns who may benefit from treatments using stem cells due to special circumstances identified at birth*. This may occur in as many as 1 out of every 100 babies born. So it does look like it will bank for free or like ti says, no cost. I just requested more information so hopefully they will get back to me soon. But this is so great that there is a program that won't cost our family anything!
