  2. Cord blood banking could be something that you would think about if you have a family history of diseases that can be cured with stem cells (or diseases that may someday be cured with them). Some places allow you to donate the cord blood for other families or research. My husband has MS and we are banking cord blood because there is promising research that may allow us to use the stem cells from our baby's cord to help cure my husband.
