Is anyone doing cord blood banking?
What is the best cord blood bank? Was it a good investment for anyone who has done it? Basically, anything you can tell me about it, I would love to know. Thank you.

- Super question! I was wondering the same thing! I look forward to reading your answers. Thanks for asking it!!
- I really want to do it but its so expensive. I think it is absolutely ridiculous how much money they want for it. Alot of people cannot afford it. I know I cant.
- Sorry I do not have any actual info for you...just answering your question on whether we are doing it. We just found out we are pregnant link a month ago and have not looked into the finances of it yet but if it is in anyway financially feasable we are DEFINITELY doing it. Way too many positive things can come from it not too. Good Luck!
- Yes I am .............. Baby is being taken c section. I am due July 2nd . Its 1500 for the first year and 100 a year after that. It is just worth it to me to have it in the event it would be needed.
- I heard that it really isn't all that it is cracked up to be. Because if your child develops a disease like cancer it is already in their cord blood, and therefore it will not help you. However, if you are trying to help out a sibling then it is a better investment. I may be totally misinformed but that is what I heard.
- i want to but it cause too much.
- Hi. I haven't done it, but my sister did when my nephew was born. They looked at all the different banks and had them send information to them. they then went with the one that was both cost effective and fitted their needs. I don't know how much it cost exactly, but they were able to pay monthly for the first year (it was like $100/month) and now, i'm not positive but i think, they pay every 6months a lump sum. We have discussed it, but decided not to decide yet. We did however talk to a person who just had a baby a year ago and is in the medical business. She said that they decided against it because although they can use it for some things, they can't for all. Also since they aren't allowed stem cell research it wouldn't be able to help as good as it could. Umm..I'm not in any way saying don't do it but I would look up all the sites on it. do BOTH sides of the spectrum, good and bad, and decide for yourself. Good Luck!!
