  1. No.
  2. Yes
  3. why not?
  4. I read something about doing that is a 5% chance you will ever need it. I mean I understand you want to be prepared for the worst and all but I don't think it is really necessary. But it's your life, your child, your call.
  5. The T cells from both would be viable to treat several diseases such as Leukemia. I would definitely give the hospital permission to save the T cells from the umbilical cord. It can be used in future treatment and research.
  6. yes, i think it would be a good idea, u should talk to a doc to find out more info on this though...
  7. I have a friend who had a job at a cord bank facility. It was her job to encourage mothers to bank cord blood - she did their marketing essentially. The hired her to start a blog discussing the benefits of cord blood and how it saved her babies life and how she recommends it more than anything...blah blah. My friend has not ever been pregnant, does not have a child and has never experienced the benefits of using cord blood. This job was for a MAJOR cord blood bank facility. What I'm trying to say here is that banking your kid's cord blood is a SCAM. Don't waste your time and take that money you save and put it into a college fund for your kid.
  8. why not? you are not going to lose anything.
  9. The odds of your child needing the cord blood are very low, while the odds of the cord banking place overcharging you for storing it are 100%. I'd look into donating it to a public bank
