Cord Blood Stem Cells Information

My newborn is 13 days old and her umbilical cord has not fallen off yet and it is bleeding is that normal?

I think to myself "shouldn't it have fallen off already"?

1. Bleeding is the problem. Call the doc right away.
2. My daughter's fell off at 8 days and never bled. I would give the pediatrician a call.
3. No, that is NOT normal! I would call the PCP and get an appointment. You don't want it to become infected.
4. It's normal mine took 21 days and bleed too. It could just mean its getting ready to fall off. Call you Dr if you are really worried.
5. My son's never fell off on it's own. His pediatrician had to remove it. But, the bleeding could be a sign of infection. Definitely call the doctor.

7. This same thing happened to my daughter I was completely freaked out! I took her into the E.R because I was so worried. They told me it wasn't that big of a deal but to clean it with alcohol and to keep it covered..and that it would fall off once it finally dried up! ...It took my daughters a week or so after we started to do that to fall off...a little blood is okay...my daughters seemed pretty bloody but they told me it would be fine if we kept cleaning it and to keep it covered. 8. Keep applying alcohol around the cord to dry it up and it will fall off eventually.
9. Bleeding is your concern. It should have dried up, even if it hasnt fallen off. Take your newborn to see their pedi. Good luck!

11. Yes it's normal. My babygirls did the same thing just keep it clean and dry:)
12. My baby's did the same thing. I was using the alcohol wipes until my grandma put goldenseal on it. The next day it was dry and fell off! It is amazing. If it is bleeding a lot, go to the doctor, but if is only a little, it's normal because it sometimes rubs against the diaper and irritates it.
13. My ds is 3.5 wks old. His bled a little when it had mostly fallen off. Dr. said it was nothing to worry about. I think it fell off maybe only a couple days before 13 days. Prob nothing to worry about but why not call the dr so you don't drive yourself crazy?
14. I thought it was normal my daughter's bled just before it fell off. Try using a cotton swab with a little bit of peroxcide. Her fell of at about 16 days.
