Are there signs the umbilical cord is detaching from the mothers placentia? My sis in law just miscarried.?
Are there any physical signs that could have been missed when an umbilical cord has detached from the placentia. My sis in law start bleeding this a.m. and they said the baby's cord detached. Is there no way for the doctors to know this during check ups, ultra sounds, past appointments, medical history? I have fibroids and pregnant and in my 7th month as well.

- there are no physical signs other than pain and bleeding but an ultrasound will tell her and the doctors 100% what is going on. I wish you both the best of luck.
- Unfortunately there are no physical signs that this is happening, other than bleeding, which is when it is already at a critical point. It is quite an unusual thing to happen so try not to worry. I had a miscarriage on 18th Dec 06, so have every sympathy with your sister in law, it is an awful thing to happen to anyone at any stage. I wish you both the best of luck for the future.
- Pain and blleding are the first signs of the placenta detaching. You can be scanned at 11am and the placenta can be detached a couple of hours later! It will not show on the scan until the detachment actually starts. Thought to your SIL;
