- That seems really unusual. . . was it healed up totally or scabbed? My daughter has had a clean, totlaly healed belly button for weeks, and she's now 6 weeks. If its just bleeding a tiny bit, clean it and dab it dry. Watch it to be sure it doesnt' smell bad or look infected-- a big indicator is if the surrounding area turns red.
- that shouldn't be bleeding take him to the doctors now
- I would be worried its infected. I cleaned my sons with rubbing alcohol but that might burn now that it fell off. Call the pediatrician, maybe you can just clean it and put neosporin on it. But Id ask first
- it is probably the diaper rubbing on it. you don't say how much bleeding there is,but if it is more than you think should be,call your doctor.
- Clean the area, check if it smells bad or if it is red, if it is its a sign of infection. If you are really worried, go to your doctor and have it checked. Good kuck
- He should be fine. call your pediatrician just the same.
- First of all why is it bleeding? Find if there is some sort of irritant like the diaper or clothing rubbing and remedy the situation. Apply direct pressure with a piece of sterile gauze. There should not be enough blood to completely saturate the gauze. If the blood loss is minimal it should be okay but keep watching it. If there is a chance there will be excessive blood loss contact your pediatrician. Keep the cord dry. Dabbing the cord with alcohol will help it to dessicate and prevent infection. Do not under any circumstance put neosporin or anything else on it. This will only prolong the time it takes until it finally comes off. Don't get anxious and try to pull it off, let it fall off itself
- Look i think you should take him to the emergency room, this is rare, and can lead to an infection, even if you find out that it wasn't all that bad, at the end you would know you made the right choice in taking him in the first place.
