Umbilical Cord?

How many mothers out there have given birth to their children with the umbilical cord wrapped around the baby's neck? what was the outcome.

1. I was born with it around my neck, my mum said the outcome was I was blue and I had to be given oxygen i was fine though, but it can be alot more severe in some cases.
2. Two of mine had the cord wrapped around their neck...I just had to stop pushing once the head was out to give the midwife a chance to slip the cord over baby's head, then I delivered as normal. They were both fine.
3. my sis did they can get it off it can be dangerous but the docs know what they r doin don't worry about that just take care of yourself !!
4. My daughter had the cord around her neck and was just fine.She came out fast though...I don't know about long labors but odds are your baby will be fine in this situation.
5. I havent had this problem, but I do hear its quite common to have the umbillical cord wrapped around the babies neck, from baby moving so much. Probably something that would get taken care of right away and not have a bad outcome.
6. I didn't, but my mother did. My little sister was born with her umbilical cord wrapped twice around her neck and they had to do a emergency c-section. Her heart rate was going down. After she was born, she was really blue and had some bruising around her neck. After a few days she developed Yellow Jaundice. But all in all she was fine. With no other problems. She is 16 now and driving...LOL Good Luck!!
7. I've heard it's quite common for the baby to have the cord around their neck, but while you are in labor they have the baby's heartbeat on a monitor and if it starts to slow down (from the unbilical cord being around the neck) they will do an emergency c-section if they think the baby is in danger. good luck with your baby! 8. My son had the cord around his neck. They tell you to pant while they cut it but its horrible because all you want to do is push, so I pushed a little I couldnt help it, then I hated myself because I was strangling my baby. then I was aloud to push. Then he was out. It took 2 mins to resusitate him. It was scary. The morale of the story. THEY COME OUT FINE
9. My sister in law did. The doctor was really concious of the potential danger and was successful in delivering a healthy baby girl.
10. My son was born with his wrapped around his neck. The doctor just took it off and cut it. My son was perfect and healthy. :) That happens more times than you think.
