  1. Nothing. It's just a way to be a part of the moment. Mom does all of the work of pushing while the guy is there. Cutting the cord makes him part of the event too.
  2. It just lets him be a bigger part of the birth. my husband was really looking forward to this but at the last minute during birth there were some major complications so the doc had to do it...
  3. Nothing. It just is a way to make him feel more involved since the first nine months the mom does all the work of taking care of baby in utero followed by giving birth..
  4. It's just his way of getting to be a part of it.
  5. Nothing. It is just a way for the doctor to let the husband feel more involved.
  6. I don't think it symbolizes anything it is just done it the husband or boyfriend would like to to make him be a part of the birth and actually be involved.
  7. i suppose it could symbolize what ever you and your partner want it to, maybe he is relieving you of the burden he has been hearing about for the last 9months. but in reality it is just to include them a bit, they must feel a bit in the way in the labour room.
  8. I think it symbolizes a little more then just letting them be involved they are cutting life from the mom...at least thats how I feel if that makes sense.
