  1. umm .. i've never heard of it hurting them? sorry, but how DO you know it's hurting him??? they have huggies diapers you can buy that has a cut out for the umbilical cord if its being rubbed by the diaper. good luck! God bless!
  2. You should call his doctor it might be infected. Have you been putting rubbing alcohol on it a few times a day?
  3. The new Umbilicare bodysuit promotes healing to the umbilical cord when worn for up to the first three weeks of an infant's life. The recommended care is to keep the umbilical cord exposed to air, letting it dry naturally. This is usually achieved by dressing baby in short t-shirts which inevitably ride up and cause bunching and discomfort. Now with the patented, new Umbilicare design, newborns can wear a secure-fitting bodysuit that features a special cut-out around the umbilical cord, allowing it to dry more quickly, thereby decreasing the chance of infection around the umbilical cord. Heres the link to it. https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2309876&fromRegistryNumber=49278973&product_skn=574853 Also make sure it stays clean and dry. You can clean the cord by gently rubbing a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol over the cord and surrounding area. Do this at every other diaper change, and be sure to fold your baby's diaper down slightly to prevent rubbing and irritation. You can also buy special newborn diapers that have a crescent cut out of the top just for this purpose. Good luck!!!
  4. Have you consulted a pediatrician about this? Such a doctor would know the correct answer. And I have NEVER heard of anyone prescribing the use of RUBBING ALCOHOL on any wound, healing or otherwise. Such a thing is like using gasoline to rinse out the mouth.
