the umbilical cord?

when the umbilical cord is cut after the birth what happens to the part that is attached to the mother do it come away with the after birth .

  10. After the baby is born you have what is called the "after birth" this is delivering the placenta/umbilical cord. They take that to get tested and make sure that it is all there (if any is left in you then you will get really sick). If it isn't all there then they will go in and vaginally and take it out. If they do not then you will get very sick and possibly die.
  11. The rest of the umbilical cord is attached to the placenta so it comes out with that.
