Why are scientists still researching about embryonic stem cells?
Correct me if I'm wrong... but there has been no successful human therapy done by embryonic stem cells... though they are pluri-potent, they are still difficult to control [more than adult stem cells]. and though an embryo does not need to be killed, why continue it when you have adult stem cells that are found to be pluri-potent now? then all those ethical issues would ease if scientists devoted their time on adult stem cell research! The only cons [medically] of stem cell research is only that they may become genetically unsuitable for patients, become defective during experimentation, hard to control [NOT as much as embryonic], and are hard to harvest and gather BTW, ARE THERE ANY PROBLEMS WITH HARVESTING? [SUCH AS DEFECTS FROM LONG-TERM] and has low success rates [well, at least it has a success rate...] not sure about the last one...any corrections? hope i've done my research nicely enough. oh yess... 51 characters left.

- I have read a book on the stem cell issue, the fact is right now there is only a fraction of the knowledge needed about stem cells before they become a source of treatment for medical problems. All avenues need to researched thoroughly before any progress can be made.
- A mile is walked by the first single step. Your words do not show any understanding of the situation.
- Why do (profession x) continue to research (topic y) when it hasn't yielded good results yet? You don't snap your fingers and get what you want. RESEARCH takes time and many attempts. Do you think the Wright brothers flew a plane on their first try? Do you think they were the first ones to ever do it? No, people had been trying to fly forever, and eventually, those guys got it right. Imagine if they had never tried because "thus far no one has done it". Imagine if we took that approach to anything? But somehow, this insano-logic is readily applied to stem cells.
- Well all those are right. Scientists are however, interested in how these stem cells affect the body, and are guided by the POSSIBILITY that these embryonic stem cells can be the key to all diseases SOMEDAY. Well. In part I agree, but that is only until they find another source of embryos. All those aborted embryos! Are for NOTHING!
