  1. Medical researchers believe that stem cell therapy has the potential to change radically the treatment of human disease. A number of adult stem cell therapies already exist, particularly bone marrow transplants that are used to treat leukemia. In the future, medical researchers anticipate being able to use technologies derived from stem cell research to treat a wider variety of diseases including cancer, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injuries, and muscle damage, amongst a number of other impairments and conditions. However, there still exists a great deal of social and scientific uncertainty surrounding stem cell research, which could possibly be overcome through public debate and future research. Stem cells, however, are already used extensively in research, and some scientists do not see cell therapy as the first goal of the research, but see the investigation of stem cells as a goal worthy in itself.
  2. In fact, they are good for nothing. There is no research linking embryonic stem cells with any successful therapy. There may be a potential for them. But as for now, they are used in research and research only. Adult stem cells are the other form of stem cells, and there research is more encouraging in producing positive results. In November, 2007 two separate magazines, CELL and SCIENCE, reported separate research which shows it is now possible to produce stem cells from any cell in the body, thus eliminating the need to use embryonic stem cells at all. This research should go a long way towards satisfying those people who believe that using embryonic stem cells is immoral because it destroys life.
  3. Embryonic stem cells are base cells that can become anything. Scientists believe that they can help cure diabetes, help find cures for spinal cord injuries, or as a cure for alzhiemers and parkinsons disease. Of course, without the ability to use these cells for research, the speculation and deductions on what they can cure is pretty moot.
