Cord Blood Stem Cells Information

Should embryonic stem cells be used unrestricted?

I say yes! Embryonic cells should be used TOTALLY to human research!!!! Embryos are not humans. Kill them if needed to save REAL living humans! We should not create them for just that, but once they are to discarded, then use them for science

  1. They are left to deteriorate and then are discarded. Why not use them to save lives?
  2. I agree they should not be restricted. That's conservatives for you.
  3. you are a ruthless son of a b---h. what if they were to do use your childs stem cell for research.
  4. I have to agree totally. Embryonic stem cells, ESCs, are not conscious of any form of realm. They should be used for research and for medical application. I fully support the creation of ESCs for therapeutic cloning with the purpose of medical application. To be effective, it only makes sense. I also fully support human reproductive cloning, as the future WILL depend upon such measures.
  5. I agree completely. They can and should be used to develop lifesaving medical treatments. The embryos used are only a few cells at that stage, are completely incapable of independent life, and would be discarded anyways. I also agree that it would be wrong to create embryos for the purpose of medical research, but if they already exist... The option should be available to the parents. If there's going to be a blanket ban on this research, why not place a ban on the donation of cadavers to hospitals for educational purposes? It bothers me to no end when people associate stem cell research with killing babies. They're not babies. Not even a fetus. They have no organs, no nervous system, and at that stage, wouldn't even be recognizable as an embryo. If you placed a chicken embryo, a human embryo side by side under a microscope, they would be indistinguishable to even a trained developmental biologist. On a side note, I wouldn't support reproductive cloning, for two reasons. 1) Sometimes there is a good reason why a person is unable to have a child, and it shouldn't necessarily be passed on. 2) The last thing our world needs is a jump in population growth. Plus, there are far too many children in this world who are in need of adoption into a good home.
