Umbilical cord?

My daughter's cord fell off early last week at 5 days old. The pediatrician said that though it was early, it was fine. Everyone who changed her has been very diligent about using an alcohol swab every time. I was just curious at what age did other people's newborns cords fall off? Did you use alcohol at changings or allow it to dry out naturally?

By my third baby we did nothing and it just fell off. It took 2 weeks.
My sons cord fell of at about 2 weeks. I didn't use anything on it apart from water and soap. He is 8 now and never had any infections.
both of my sons cords fell off around 7-10 days old, but yes, every change we used the alcohol. look at it this way, now she can have her "first" real bath
My sons fell off at about 5 days as well. I didnt use alcohol every time, since from experience with piercings I know it can be harsh and actually cause scar tissue so I was a bit paranoid lol. I just made sure that the diaper wasnt covering it. If its not bleeding or oozing then it should be just fine.
yes I kept the naval cord dry and cleaned it with alcohol, if the naval is healing ok don't worry about times othercords drop off ,every child is different and develop at a different rate,5 days 10 or 2weeks as long as the doctor show no concern, fine. Good Luck
It's not necessary to swab with alcohol at each change. Make sure the edge of the diaper isn't rubbing against her navel.
with my first child it took 3 weeks and with my second it took two and i used alcohol cause it drys it out faster plus it keeps infection away. trust me thats the last thing u want to get infected. my sons did and he had alot of problems good luck and best wishes.
I think my daughter's fell off around a week. And yes, we used alcohol swabs that we got from the hospital to clean it after every diaper change. That's what the nurses told us to do when we were there. Even till now, I still clean it with q-tip and alcohol after her bath, just to keep it clean. She's almost 6 weeks now.
my first sons fell off at a week and my second at 14 days. i used it verytime with my first and every other time with the second.
i used alcohol swabs and my babys fell off about day 9 if i recall i am sure its fine
my son was 10 days old. I used nothing on it just made sure it was dried after bath
