Do you think if we stopped using the term "embryonic" stem cells, that the Democrats would better understand

our opposition to the federal funding of stem cells obtained from ABORTED BABIES? Stem cells can be obtained from many other sources: umbilical fluid, amniotic fluid, the remains of a pulled tooth, etc. The President and Republicans would not oppose these other sources! Ben T - speak for yourself about the age of your science knowledge. Republicans have been stating this since my kids have been in middle school, so that would be 5 years ago. The liberal media is just catching up - hence, you libs are just finding out about it. 8. The main opposition to embryonic stem cell funding is that embryonic stem cells have not been used to cure anything. Adult stem cells, although limited in string size, have been used sucessfuly to aid in research for a number of diseases. Embryonic stem cell research yields great potential but to date the billions thrown at it have yet to produce a single result.

10. Democrats look for any excuse to bash Mr. Bush. I think they treat this as another vote-buying issue. If the Dems get federal funding for anything, people are supposed to like them and vote for them. Embryonic stem cells have not proven valuable in curing any diseases.

The current funding debate is over whether to allow federal dollars to fund research on stem cells obtained during in vitro fertilization. The only people talking about abortion and stem cells are right-wing nutjobs who have no idea what they are talking about. 17. I agree just the sound of "embryonic", makes people shiver into their higher religious, and righteous overtones. But each of them, will do anything to save a life of their own child. People have failed to realize first, that these embryonic stem cells are not coming out of the wombs of any women, but, are being developed in fertility clinics. Secondly, you are already harvesting human parts to save lives and limbs, from people who have gone into coma's and either on their wish or the wishes of the families involved they are harvested. Have you ever seen or heard how these transplants are done, they continue to sustain that persons life until all body parts needed are harvested. So, if Americans can stomach this, then why not move forward into newer and maybe more promising technology, with least gruesome acts...I just don't get it.
