Umbilical cord???

My son's umbillical cord fell off about a week ago and today I noticed something green oozing from his belly button. Not being gross but the only way I can descibe it is a booger. Ive wiped it clean with an alcohol swab and it seems to be ok now. Is this something I need to notify my peditrician about?

it should not be oozing anything...it may be an infection. Call the pediatrician just to be safe :)

My son is now 2 mo old and when his umbilical cord feel off his did the same thing. I know exactly what you are describing and that is the only way to describe it. I would just watch the area and notify your doctor if you can see more of the green ooze coming out or if it looks red or feels hot to the touch. I talked with my Dr and that's what they suggested. Just keep a close eye on it and it should be fine! Good luck with your new baby!
Yes it could be an infection that has started!
This happened to me with my son and yes I did contact my pediatrician and they did see him in the office. They told me that he had a small hernia and it would heal on its own. I would call just make sure.
