have given them permission for each of my kids but havent had a baby for 6 years, do they still do this?

When I had my daughter 2 years ago, they never asked me, but I saw them taking it from her cord and putting it in a collection bag......so I guess they still take it!

Yes - you can also pay to have it frozen for your own or your child's later use if you wish. (Check the baby magazines for that company contact - they are always advertising). Shad.
aint got a clue they never asked either time with me. i had c-sections so didnt get to see the placenta or cord.

They didn't ask to do that and I believe it was discarded like the rest
You CAN still donate your cord blood but I was never asked by anyone to do so.
Yes, I just got a booklet in the mail yesterday for it. I dunno how they find out your pregnant but they do, and Im sure youll get one too.
I was under the impression that this was something you had to go about setting up yourself. Banks for this kind of thing are often hard to find. And if you're not close to one, then you have to schedule someone to come to your hospital. I had my little girl 18months ago and I wasnt asked and I didnt see anyone just taking it but I was pretty tired and out of it after I had given birth so they could have. Sorry I couldnt be of much help.
