Christians: What are your thoughts on stem-cell research?
Specifically stem-cells from umbilical cord blood(noncontroversial) already being used to treat diseases? Do you have any reservations concerning this? Your kind thoughts. Wise Duck - Exactly. I was just reading an inter-net article on this, and the science behind it is utterly amazing. Parents can actually start a 'Baby Bank" with their babies umbilical blood to store for future purposes. This stuff is really exciting!!!!! Wise Duck - Exactly. I was just reading an inter-net article on this, and the science behind it is utterly amazing. - It's just fine as long as embryos are not destroyed.
- No, no problem with stem cells from umbilical cord blood. Thge only stem cells that I have a problem with is embryonic stem cells because it results in destruction of an embryo which is a human life.
- I have no reservations about ANY part of stem-cell research. If it will prevent someone from even possibly being born like me.I am all for that. I don't believe they are creating life in a petri dish just to kill it later.
- Adult Stem Cells are and have already been used to treat over 70 afflictions, were as Embryonic Stem cells has not. The whole thing is really not whether Embryonic Stems cells canhelp or Not, Those on the left really don't care, It is just a puppet cause to defeat the religious right, Thats all it is, The umbilical cord is great and all that and I am all for that, let that puch on through, but the Liberal Left will Not leave embryonic Stem Cell issue alone, as they only want to defeat the religious right, that is the only reason they want to continue to fight, They don't care whether it can cure or not, as they will pay their researchers under the table to say produce any fabricated evidence needed just for that purpose alone.
- It's fine with me and my Church. "The use of cord-blood stem cells does not involve the destruction of embryos, and the Catholic Church supports their use." http://www.catholic.org/national/national_story.php?id=25229
- A note to expecting parents, I strongly advise you to store your child's umbilical cord fluid if you can afford it. This would provide a future source of stem cells that are free from rejection. The only problem with this source is they can be easily rejected unless they're yours.
- It is a good research project; I support it, immensely.
