Why are we not supporting Adult Stem Cells?

Using human embryos is crazy. Embryonic stem cells have never cured ANYTHING. It is still a THEORY. NO ONE has PROVEN it Works. ADULT STEM CELL RESEARCH has proven it is a miracle worker for people with Diabetes, paralysis, blindness, cancer and up to 40 illness and disability that there was no known cure for!!! 1. Because that would cause "incrementalism"; if Bush and his consorts were consistent, they would ban the use of placental material, too. Of course the placental cells would die if not supported in the lab, but so would spontaneously aborted foetuses (and they are off-limits), all the 'waste' zygotes created during in-vitro work (which are thrown in the trash rather than used for research), etc...etc...etc...
2. A couple of nitpicks. This question probably belongs in Politics, first of all. Secondly, gravity is just a theory. Evolution is a theory, the "laws" of genetics are theories, and plate tectonics is a theory. Most of the basic truths of science are impossible to prove. In answer to your question: Bush is a jackass, and is afraid of the idea that people would be able to solve their problems without the aid of an invisible supernatural being.
3. Pro choicers have been looking for a moral positive for abortion for years. This issue more about abortion than stem cell research.

5. OK first, since you're posting the science section, I'd like to point out that basically everything in the realm of science is theory. Theories can be supported by data, or disproven, but good scientists know and understand the fact that they remain theories. Second, because you're insane, let me ask you this: HOW IN THE WORLD ARE SCIENTISTS SUPPOSED TO PROVE EMBRYONIC STEM CELLS WORK IF THEY'RE NOT PERMITTED TO USE THEM. Holy crap. Seriously. THAT IS THE POINT OF SCIENCE. IF WE JUST INTRINSICALLY KNOW STUFF, IF SOMETHING WOULD WORK OR WOULDNT WORK, WE WOULDNT NEED SCIENTISTS. I understand, it's all so clear and easy with your working laboratory of the internet and republican talking points. But you should talk to real scientists about actual science some time. It would be enlightening. As further tribute to your science, I enjoy your lack of citations for all the diseases cured by adult stem cells. If you hope to convince people that maybe that part of your argument is valid, it would help.
6. We do support adult stem cells, it's just that their uses are extremely limitted. Embryonic Stem cells serve as a much better tool for reseach purposes in understanding how disease works.
7. Fear and ingnorance of what is new. If we only had staunch conservatives in congress nothing new would have ever occurred!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We must educate and help these myopic people see outside the box.
8. You pose a good question. Bush has said that he supports Adult Stem Cells but he just does not want to pay for it. Stemcells, Inc. just last week launched the first patient trial with Adult cells placed in the brain of a patient. Funding is there but mostly from sharedholders and Universities. So why does the public not demand it? It is like anything else, a good idea that has to be proven in order to believe in it.
