Do human stem cells have a right to life?
People who say abortion isn't murder, because an embryo isn't a living human may not be aware of the high value scientists place on stem cells. Researchers seem to think they are more important than common tissue, such as skin, bone, or liver cells. Aren't stem cells themselves, the essence of human life in it's smallest form? Unlike common tissue, stem cells have the unique ability to produce any, and all the other types of cells. There seems to be a contradiction here, between the abortionists, and the researchers. The former places little value on minute quantities of human tissue, the latter seems to think very small amounts of some tissue can be the salvation of the human species.

- obviously, you are oblivious to the recent developments that stem cells have been got even from mundane cells; so are you going to save your facial shavings?
- i think if something that is already dead can help someone see, live, or walk then why the hell not use it!? some politicians say theyre against abortion, but theyre pro war, ugggg!!!! that really bothers me!
- Get your story straight. This is like the Christmas thing... Xians always were told life begins at birth. Daoists and Bhuddists said life begins at conception.
- This question's answers are ALL opinions. In my opinion, Do human stem cells have a right to life? No.
- DO YOU?
- Are you planning on adopting some stem cells? How many? I'm not sure they'd survive long outside of the laboratory, and they're terrible conversationalists anyway. You might want to just get a goldfish instead.
- embryionic stem cell research is murder, but they now have loads of other types using other kinds of stem cells
- Yes they have as much right to life as my toenail clippings. If I could use them to make new hearts or lungs I would be really rich.
- You don't have to use human embryos to make stem cells anymore. So, if it hasn't come from an embryo then it has never even begun to live so no.
- There is human stem cell research taking place that uses the stem cells from the human eye. These cells being used are from consenting donors. This area of research is not in conflict with right to life philosophies. It is very, very exciting research that has the potential to help many people! That seems to me to give more meaning to the deaths of the donors that contribute. Bravo! Peace! Just thought I would through that in there!
- Sperm, and menstruated eggs are not destroyed human lives. Only when they come together, does the seed of life exist. It is murder to interfere from that point on. Even in the case of rape... you do not repay an evil with a more vile evil... abortion is murder. That you are unprepared for the "inconvenience" of a child is no excuse for murder. Its quite pathetic actually. God Bless You.
- In spite of what most preachers tell their followers, here is what the bible has to say about an unborn fetus... Job 10:18-19 (ESV) "Why did you bring me out from the womb? Would that I had died before any eye had seen me and were as though I had not been, carried from the womb to the grave. I would add that if God considers an unborn fetus to be as if it were someone who never existed, then how could stem cell research possibly be murder?
- Stem cells can't survive on their own. They can't work and they certainly can pay taxes. Needless to say, if they can be used to save a life that is already here, then by all means use them to save a life or make the quality of a thriving life better. I won't get into an abortion debate. Abortion is an option for a woman and no one nor the government should force a woman to give birth. 2D
- Who knows...I like your point. Some value, some don't. I guess if something is useful it will be valued more than something that is an inconvenience. mho.
- No, because they are not fertilized human embryos, and cannot, of their own accord, develop into human beings. They have no independent life in them. By your logic, ALL cells, since they carry DNA would have the same "right to life," which is an absurd concept. Have a blessed day.
