  1. Molecular medicine is a term used to describe the study of diseases and therapies at the molecular level, rather than at an anatomical or physiological level. In particular, people use the term to describe the development of treatments based on understanding the molecular biology of drugs and their receptors, the molecular basis of cancer and how to treat it; genetic diseases and how to cure them; genetic differences between individuals and how that affects their health and their responses to drugs, etc. You cannot really talk about advantages and disadvantages -- it is an approach to medical research. It is important for practitioners to remember that it is not the only approach and that they have to understand biology, anatomy and physiology as well. Molecular medicine is a research discipline rather than a clinical methodology.
