- My baby came off at 2 weeks almost 2 weeks. before it came off it was bloody in some spots like dried up blood.. I thought she hurt herself and that it was painful and i clean it with rubbing alcohol. and it didn't hurt her one bit.. the next day i looked at her belly button and it was gone! found it in her diaper! everything is okay! good luck
- just listen to the nurse and do what she says and the cord will stop bleeding.
- My sons fell off after about a week maybe a little more. It bled a tiny bit once and I saw a little of blood on his white onsie. I was told to swab his belly button with alcohol to dry it out. Thats it. =)
- what we did for my nephew was use alcohol to disinfect it so it wouldnt bug him that much. if youre worried about it stinging you could get tha non-stinging brand for babies.
- I have 3 children my last child now 2 had her umbilical cord come off early (there is no doubt) it looked horrible. It was in 3 days because of a diaper ripped it off(it got stuck to it..long story) anyhow..hydrogen perioxide worked well everytime I changed her diaper and baths, or when ever I thought of it..she fine now however it was a little disturbing.. for the dry skin that formed on her belly from the peroxide I put vaseline.. I hope this will help. it took like almost a month(give or take) to fully look great.
- I have 5 kids and I never heard about cleaning with water and vaseline.....Cotton with alcohol or alcohol swabs.....And it falls off differently for each baby.....Dont worry, use the alcohol to prevent infection and everything will be fine!! Good luck and congratulations!!!
- My baby's came off around 2 weeks. It will bleed a little bit for a while. My baby's bled for several weeks. Just remember to not get it wet, like in a tub, until it has completely healed. Dab a Q-tip in alcohol and clean with every diaper change and it will continue to dry up and heal. The doctor will check her belly button at her 2 week checkup and probably again at her 1 month check up.
- 9 days is average for cord separation, the bleeding will stop after a few days. Try to keep diaper and other things away from it to prevent irritation until it stops bleeding. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9836156 Cord separation time was statistically significantly different (alcohol group, 9.8 days; natural drying group, 8.16 days; t = 8.9, p = < .001).
- My babys cord fell mostly off at 2 weeks exactly. The other little piece came off at about 3 weeks... maybe 3 1/2 weeks. I cleaned hers with alcohol swabs, but do what your doctor told you to do as advice on this seems to vary from nothing to water to what youve been told to alcohol....... dont worry, bleeding and some oozing is normal.... my baby had neon yellow oozing and the doctor said that was normal... it scared me a bit, LOL
